You'll probaby get a number of responses from other who have done timing chains on the Saab I 4 . I did one years back without the benefit of a shop manual, and had the valve "ticking noise" shortly after finishing the job - I had not properly reseated an o ring from the oil pump when putting on the front cover, hence low oil pressure.
Advise you to follow very carefully what the dealer finds is the cause, you could have caused some damage to your enginge driving that distance and I say it's possibly realted to the repair work, although I would think the car would have been run long enough at the shop after the repair to turn up any major glitches from the repair job.
