Yes, try with pulling the gear shifter back and forth between D and P while still holding the key in cranking position, if that doesn't generate any split second starter engagements when the shifter passes over N or P I don't think it is the switch and we need to try something else.
Find fuse 30, rig up a wire from +30 battery voltage so that you can touch that to fuse 30.
With a no start condition, hold the key in starting position and touch the +30 power wire to fuse 30. If the starter cranks over we are just about done and it is probably the ignition switch +50 pin that is not delivering enough juice to the gear selector switch and over to starter relay.
In that case, you need to replace the ignition switch.
