Using 10W30 every 3 month 3K miles will certainly keep all sludge problems at bay if you want to keep running that regiment. Is that quick lube oil you are using?
At quick lube places they use the cheapest possible oil and filter to be able to do the $19.95 oil changes so that's the reason they have the 3/3 rule.
I use a high quality 15W-40 dino oil for all customers not wanting full synthetic and I let them go 5K or 6 month between changes without any problems whatsoever.
I don't really want them to come in every 3month/3K miles. Most people have better things to do than running to the auto shop all the time.
If you are reaching 3K miles every 3 months I would suggest either use a high quality dino oil or go to fully synthetic and run 5 or 6K miles or 6 month instead and you wouldn't have any problems then either.
That saves you a trip to the shop.
Just keep in mind to check the oil level now and then. Some engines burn more oil than others and if you extend the oil change intervals without checking the level, you might run out of oil before the next oil change.
