I hope they'll help you out. When I worked them them four years ago, they were very nice, but the wheels turned kind-of slowly. They do know about this problem, and they have had to buy back several cars because of it, so that might also help move things in your favor.
I wonder what they did with all of those cars they bought back. Saab, and car manufacturers in general, rarely let things get to the lemon law stage, because then the title is tarnished forever (like a salvage title). So in most cases, it just becomes another trade-in car. If you have to escalate it, you might try to find out if this car has had this problem before (that's where the warranty records from the dealership service department come in handy). If it has, then you could start with the whole thing about how they knowingly resold a car with a dangerous defect to you, blah blah blah. Like I said, hopefully, they'll just take care of you.
Good luck with all of this. I believe that since this is a design flaw with safety implications, they should fix it regardless of the warranty status. If an alternator wears out after 100K miles, that's just life. We've all had to pay to get stuff like that fixed. But gas tanks aren't supposed to wear out.
