Service history....Darn good buy.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Need advice on a 2001 9-5 SE, crn, Fri, 25 Aug 2006 21:53:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Great car, but it just passed through the major 60k service period and you wanna' make sure that was done and the rest of it before that too. At 60k, or actually technically within 2k of 60k, Saab the factory will replace the cam belt for free. It's smart to change the tensioner pulleys at the same time at your expense while it's apart. The belt part is free so it would be a sign of obvious neglect to not have had it done.
At $10k for a car that checks out is a steal, and a steal on a very nice Saab, with lotsa' life yet that won't require major maintenance till 120k. The SE V6 has a sweet torquey motor, great tranny, the nicest color of Saab wood interior trim and had the premium package standard and sometimes vented seats. I think heated seats mighta' been a stand alone option so check for that too.
