Don't go to a shop where they say "you need a boost of freon".
In today's cars, the A/C system is so fine tuned and relying on the right amount of freon that a booster shot might make it worse.
What you need to find out is if the low pressure pipe is cold or not too.
If the pipe is freezing cold, it is not a low freon charge but maybe an air door problem under dash.
If it in fact needs freon. They need to evacuate the system and fill it up to proper level using proper A/C equipment, and they also need to find and repair the reason why the freon leaked out in the first place.
