Update on "Service Theft Alarm"..... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 13 Sep 2006 06:15:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just returned from the Dealer Service Dept after following Ander's advice regarding my Service Theft Alarm message. They confirmed my suspicion the problem is in the Siren unit and quoted $400 to replace it, after delivery of the part. They also quoted $415 to replace my SID due to its missing pixels.
I will order $14 worth of batteries to repair the Siren myself, and send the SID off to Guy for his ~$100 repair which will make it better than new.
With the multitude of components in the Theft Alarm System it is only right to have someone with the required equipment and skills to properly diagnose the root problem causing the alarm message, and not just start tearing into things swapping parts blindly.
