I have had my 2006 9-5 w/ sport package and 5MT for 2 months Overall I am very happy with the new car and it is certainly a big improvement, in most aspects, over the 2002 9-5 linear 5MT it replaced. My particular likes/dislikes are…

Likes:

-Extra power
-Improved sport chassis handling
-Sport seats
-Sport steering wheel
-Quieter then my previous 02 linear
-AAC controls
-6 disc changer / stereo
-AUX-in plug for stereo
-SID location on base of gauge cluster
-SID buttons on wheel
-Lower lease payment then my 02 linear(I really like this feature!!)

Dislikes, all minor, thankfully

-Gauge cluster (tach too small, linear scale on speedo, looks very American)
-Door latch mechanism (feels fragile and cheap)
-Access to headlight bulbs
-Pirelli P6 tires (quiet but poor handling)
-Steering is still a bit too light, but this seems to be a Saab design trait
-Too much chrome on headlight surrounds
-No dimmer function for SID display (other then night mode)
-Floor Mats (cheap carpet and will not stay in place)
-Thin cheap vinyl on gear shift boot
-Gas filler cover ( it was misaligned and not flush to body work, I was able to fix this myself , however)

So far the only problems I have had were with the maligned gas filler cover and the dash cup holder that the spring broke in earlier this week. I have to say that when compared to the alternatives in the marketplace ,at least here in Eastern Canada (S60, TL, A4, A6, C280, Maxima) , the 2006 9-5 is a lot of car for the money.
