Yep, the "clackity" sound is pretty normal for the V6 Saab uses in the 9-5. If it's really clackity you may have a collapsed lifter. Click on the link below for a video I took of my car when I first got it. It had been sitting for 6 months so the lifters were gummed up hance making that terrible sound. After some fresh oil and 1,000 miles it's much less clackity, although everyone says that it's normally clackity. Not al V6's sound like this; most of them are very smooth and quiet.
By the way, this isn't a true Saab engine. It's made by Opel/Vauxhall and was used in the Cadillac Catera and Saturn L300, of course without a turbo though. When GM came along they modified it slightly and through it in a Saab. My 2001 V6 has 164k miles and counting, still going strong.
