there are really only two possibilities:
1> You need a good alignment. The old tires may well have been worn in a way that let the car track straight even though the aligment was off. This is what it sounds like to me, without seeing the car. Were the old tires worn unevenly?
2> There is something wrong with the new tires. Sumitomos aren't a premium brand, so you could have tires that are defective--possible but unlikely. The lesser brands do not have the quality control of the better ones.
I'd get a good alignment--and they are not all created equal. You may have to go to someone other than a basic tire store. If you have an indy Sab tech, ask him who does the best work. Are your wheels straight and true? 9-5s can have rear suspension issues that will affect the way the car rides and steers. Check this, too.
