be sent away to Guy Senesac (the SID guy) for repair. I have tried the home made radio removal tools with no luck, a set of DIN readio removal tools from WalMart was only $4. I had to regrind the notched to a square edge so the tools would work properly.
My SID was a very tight force fit in the dash. There would have been no chance to remove it using the butter knife/putty knife technique. Remove the radio, reach into the opening to grasp the read of the SID, and pull firmly towards you to remove.
Be careful of sharp sheetmetal inside the dash. I have a very shallow yet nasty looking slice across my palm as I type this as result of yesterday's removal.
