Hi all,

I have an 06 9-5 wagon which I bought in the US last year, and now I've moved to Belgium with my whole household, including my two Saabs. I got pretty lucky, since I got the cars approved and registered without requiring any modifications; I expected to have to change things like lights and reflectors, or at least the speedometer/odometer, but nothing came up (unlike my Harley, where I expected fewer problems but for which I'm now facing a few grand worth of modifications...).

I've had my indy here in Belgium fit a trailer hitch, but he couldn't figure out where to connect the wiring. He even contacted a local Saab dealer and the Belgian Saab importer, but they couldn't help him either; Euro spec models have trailer wiring provided with a standardized connector.

My mech told me that probably there's a T-connector that taps into the taillight wiring. He could in principle splice the taillight wiring to achieve the same, but he wasn't sure whether there would be problems with the computer and sensors then.

I understand from earlier postings on this BB that some models used to have the trailer wiring preinstalled, but evidently that is no longer the case.

I e-mailed the US dealer where I bought it, and they could at least provide me a part number for the wiring harness kit: 32025635 (does anyone know if that's the same as the one sold at GenuineSaab under no 4738829??). They didn't have any in stock, so they couldn't tell me what it looks like or if there's a wiring diagram included.

Now, apart from figuring out whether I can get those parts shipped from the US to Belgium at a reasonable rate, what I really only need is the electrical wiring diagram, assuming that the kit you buy from Saab is totally passive, i.e. no 'smart' parts, just wires and connectors. Besides, I assume that the kit includes the external connector where the plug coming from the trailer is hooked up, and I'm pretty sure that that's a different plug in Europe, so I need to cut into the wires anyway.

I'd like to hear from anyone who had a trailer hitch installed on a 9-5 that didn't have the preinstalled wiring how the wiring kit connects to the car's harness:
- Is it indeed a T-connector to one of the taillights?
- Is it the wiring indeed totally passive, or is there some active part or 'black box' included?
- Would it be possible to post a scan of the instructions or wiring diagram?

Thanks in advance,

Leo
