Unlike willyx, I had a good experience with Batteries Plus. Since the stores are individually owned, there may be different service experiences between franchise owners.
They charged me $8.50 per battery and soldered them onto the board for free. All I had to do was deliver the module to them. While I opened it in advance, they probably would have done that too. There was no need for epoxying the batteries to the board, the originals weren't.
After applying a thin bead of Permatex silicon sealant to the case, I was able to reinstall it in a matter of minutes.
It's your choice whether to do the repair yourself, have a tech do it, or replace the module with OEM, or aftermarket equipment. Replacing the batteries seemed to be the most straightforward and least costly option for me. Besides, these alarms are integrated into the 9-5's security/theft system which monitors various sensors, sounds the siren, and immobilizes the car. Tying an aftermarket system into that system will be a lot harder than fixing the one that came with the car.
