I've installed many of these same filters, most were those I purchased new, some were those installed by two different SAAB dealers. None showed cuts on the rubber gasket. In fact, I don't ever recall seeing such cuts on an oil filter gasket. I'd watch for any leaks on the newly installed filter and after about 5K miles, change oil and filter and inspect the gasket on the one you just installed. Also closely inspect the inside of the housing where the filter threads in for anything sharp. It may have been damaged prior to installation and not noticed by the installer. Good Luck.
