To adjust.... Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: A technique for adjusting the headlights......, Radu, Sat, 16 Dec 2006 21:59:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
...I've never used the bubble a a mans of doing the adjustment. The reason is that my driveway is not level....so the reading is meaningless. On the other hand is level left to right.
So....I park about 1 car length from the garage door and adjust the lights up or down. Then I bck up a few feet. It's immediately apparent whether the lights are too high or low. Finally, I go for a ride at night; I lik the headlights set up to hit the ground as far in front of the car as possible without blinding oncoming traffic. Also, I set up the right headlight to hit the groud about 5' in front of the left.
Finally....when the headlights are set properly the high beams will not move up or down as you're backing away from the garage door (from the spot where they hit the garage door when you're parked a car length away).
Note...you may have to tweak the left-right adjustment. The spot where the headlights hit the garage door should not move left or right as you're backing away.
