My 2000 9-5 has AirFlow problems -- no air flow to the legs.
I don't know what to call the [collection of] gadget[s] which cause[s] the failure, other than an AirFlow Diverter. I imagine a set of vanes, vanes attatched to levers, levers running into controlling solenoids, solenoids controlled by the air system electronics.
My Guess: Seems like a solenoid is failing/failed; an actuator not willing to move in/out. Once before I noticed the air flow missing from my legs, and going back and forth between Defrost and Legs and Console seemed to work it out, and the air flowed from the legs' portal. This trick will not work this second time I've encountered un-HVAC'd feet. Nor does upping the air temp, or dropping it.
The problem is reminiscent of a very similar issue on my long-ago sold peugot, for which the cure was [i think] an expensive dismemberment and replacement of a small, relatively cheap part. I elected not, then.
And, I wonder now, what misfortune I have tumbled upon.
I'll add it to:
sunroof floods; computer shorts [twice and the regular one]; fire within the front passenger seat [it smells first, then burns, in case your curious]; transmission lever ball joint falls off car [at mile .2 from dealer's portal at purchase]; first road-to-driveway turnaround ungracefully swipes the fog lamps engineered to sweep inches off the road surface.
Is there some cover I can remove, a solenoid arm I can burnish, to allow free motion? Or am I daydreaming of hope? Pictures of the area or gadgetry involved would be appreciated....or an explanation of likely causes and simple fixes. A tap with a delicate sledge hammer?
Thanks so much.
