Disconcerting Coolant Leak

I seemed to have developed a coolant leak on my '01 Aero over the past week or two. It seemed so slow that I couldn't tell what was going on. My first realization came about a week and a half ago when I got a low coolant warning on the SID. I topped it off, but didn't look very low, maybe 3/8 inch below the line.
When I went out to my car after work today there was a small puddle of coolant under the front of the car. Took a look and didn't see anything and the level in the reservoir was just a little below the line. So I drove it home and put it up on ramps to check it out. Took off the plastic cover under the pulley side of the engine and there was coolant splashed over the AC compressor, the oil filter and somewhat on the face of the enging (as far as I was able to see).
Does this sound like the water pump is shot or could there (hopefully) be something else around there that's fairly simple (i.e. cheaper). I can't see any hoses to/from the pump without taking more apart. Any other experience like this? By the way it has 101,000 miles on it, no noises, runs like a champ otherwise. Thanks.
