NIght and day difference.... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Fri, 5 Jan 2007 13:35:01 In Reply to: 200 95 SE--is V6 problematical?, John Watson, Fri, 5 Jan 2007 08:24:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Though many folks get extremely good service and long life out of their NG900 V6's, they are considered trouble, but the V6 9-5's had the engine resourced from Vauxhaul in England instead of Opel in Germany with numerous Saab inspired improvements I'm told.
The common wisdom amoung Saab mechanics, timing belt replacement aside which is free at 60K anyway, is that the V6 has less issues. For example the 9-5 V6's entirely dodged the sludge issue.
Itsa' sweet motor too with big time snap off the line, relatively smooth idle compared to the fours and sings a nicer song hunder high load and high RPM. It's heavier than the four which you can feel and is down about 10% in fuel economy, but there's no specific reason to avoid a 9-5 V6 and the V6's where all premium package cars and the 02-03 Arcs even came with cool (sorry I can never resist) vented seats.
