take a ride with me. You'd be surprised how much data is availabe to look at while the car's moving. It'll tell you whether it's slipping, or not, and if so, by how much.
If you're getting a lot of slippage, changing trans oil won't fix it. On the other hand, it could just be a bad shift solonoid. These transmissions allow certain amounts of slippage in 3rd 4th and 5th gears for improved fuel economy.
I had a hard shift problem with a Chevy van once. The dealer couldn't explain it and told me I needed a new transmission. I didn't and later found out the problem could be corrected with a small mod to the valve body.
