But you really need to have dedicated snows. I'm really surprised that, living in Minnesota, you didn't put snow tires on it. All season tires are really for all the dry and rainy seasons, not the ones with snow :)
You don't need dedicated rims, although they make the tire swap easier they'll protect your good rims from winter damage.
The TCS will only stop your wheels from spinning. With an all season tire, your wheels will spin a lot, so basically the TCS will not allow the car to move much. Same goes for braking; with poor grip, your car is going to slide through intersections.
Living in Boston, I use dedicated snow tires and rims and have never gotten stuck in my 9000. In fact, I've made it up hills where AWD vehicles couldn't. While I don't own a 9-5, I have driven a friend's many times in the snow (with snow tires) and found that it really is a great car for the snow. After all, they do come from Sweden!
