The revs in my car ('03 Aero) definitely "hang", not dropping quickly as they do in my Civic or my old Saturn. Supposedly this is intentional, though it certainly diminishes the fun factor.
If your car is actually revving up when you hit the clutch you may have a problem. I'll leave it to the more experienced members to try to diagnose it.
