As the owner of a 99 wagon V6 with about the same mileage as the one you are looking at, here are my words of caution and praise.
1. The Saab will outperform your 1992 BMW wgn.
2. It will not be a whole lot cheaper to maintain.
3. Make sure you have complete records for the car for work that has been done. If there are a LOT of new parts on the car you'll probably be fine.
If not, you are looking at $1500 to $3000 in the not to distant future.
Examples:
Shocks front and definitely rear
timing belt and tensioner done at 75,000 miles and hopefully recently
wheel bearings
exhaust -these cars seem to go through them
O2 sensors
bushings all over
4. expect about 20 mpg city and 28 to 32 highway depending on the time of year.
5. it seats 4 large adults comfortably for hours.
so, it's a great car but like any car with 140K on it there will be worn items that need replacing. Even at an indy, many of the above items are multiple hour jobs.
Good luck
