What would happen if I change the standard 16 inch rims and move up to 17 inch rims? *** You would need to buy bigger tires! You would probably see a rougher ride and sharper handling.
Will the speedo be off? *** Only if you buy the wrong size of 17" tires.
Will the difference change the mileage/preformance? *** Probably slight decrease in mileage and performance (acceleration) (since larger rims are usually heavier) but not enough that you'd notice, and improvement in handling.
Will Aero rims fit on a Linear? Sure, why not? But 15" rims won't fit over the larger Aero brakes.
See the tire sizer link. Make sure that you buy tires the same *height* as your 16" tires so your speedo doesn't change. For example, 225/45-17 is nearly the same height as 215-55/16.
