There was a mid cycle enhancement for the 9-5 line in 2002 and 2003 brought the final pieces to that puzzle, the Sentronic paddle shift, the availibility of vented sport seats and the more common distribution of xenon/park assist/rain sensing wiper or touring package cars. Also statistically one of the most reliable Saab of all time.

For me 9-5's convey all the flavor of the first 900's, the colors, fonts and shape of the dash in particular, but in a thoroughly contemporaty package with great tunes and every gizmo availible on a high line car. In addition the SportWagon is the perfected hatchback, and a very handsome one at that as I really like the lines of SportWagons as well as the sedans. And any 9-5 Aero is true to Saabs four cylinder turbo roots. 9-5 Aeros are especially well suited to the aforementioned Sentronic auto with shift paddles as well as the useful sport mode.

And most importantly, all the cool people drive sportwagons.
