One of the two cars I learned to drive on was, and still is my parents ford Aerostar, it is a 5 speed manual. Yes, that is right a 5 speed manual minivan, it is fun to come up to a light next to some supped up honda, and smoke the rear tires (it has the biggest v6 they offered at the time in it, and like the truck frame it is built on, has little weight on the rear tires) and take it in a stop light race! (much past 45 it is worth nothing...) but back to the main point, yes, if you had such a stick shift mini van, you could start it out in 3, which i did often when i was learning how to drive, I could get it going all the way up in 4th, but that was very shaky, and very hard on the clutch.
