Burning Rubber

Well, I have been reading the posts here for over a year, so I guess it is time to jump in.
Introduction: First time SAAB owner; 2003 Areo, mertlot in color. Purchased from Jim Thompson Auto in Atlanta a year ago with 15,000 miles on the odo. Great experience. Wife and I love the car. Unfortunately, don't see many SAABs here in Middle Georgia.
Problem: on the return trip from Florida this past weekend, I noticed a loss of coolant (came up on the SID too) and a smell of burning rubber. I took it to the local "foreign repair" shop and had the heat control valve replaced. Coolant loss fixed. However, I can still smell the burning rubber. Also, this morning my wife told me the SID came up with the low coolant warning. Do I just need to do a reset? Any idea why I am smelling burnt rubber?
