I’ve included a link to a letter from Saab to me.
First, I must say this is the first and only written letter I have ever received from Saab. I hope that this is a sign of better customer communication under Jay Spenchian. I have enough file numbers with Saab to say that so far (between early 04 and now) it has been truly awful.
That said, Saab didn’t actually deal with the matter at hand directly. I need a way to prove to Saab that my 9-5 can’t be used fully loaded for extended periods. I explained that the dealer doesn’t have access to a vehicle scale. The dealership also can’t determine if a camber spec of X will result in problems after a certain number of miles. Saab’s position is that this is how the vehicle was deigned which I completely agree with. However, the design has resulted in an overstatement of the GVWR since the vehicle fails when utilized at or near the GVWR.
Saab can’t fix what it will not acknowledge is broken so I don’t see how this is ever going to get resolved.
Does anyone have any personal experience with Dave Nicholson?
If someone has access to a facility in the Northeast that can weigh the vehicle to verify full load and then take alignment readings, please email me.
Anyone have a suggestion on a dealer that might be willing to help?
For those that haven’t followed this matter, this is related to rear tire cupping and suspension/alignment problems on the 9-5.
The original position referenced in the letter is Saab’s denial of a buy back. This decision was made by the dealer rep within a few hours of the file first being generated. I never requested a buy back but rather that Saab fix my vehicle or take it back which is Saab’s obligation under warranty laws. I like the car, but if I can’t utilize it to its fullest what is the point.
