Just wanted to add my own two cents:
1. If you experienced any sort of sudden surge, thump, and then your TCS and CEL lights came on while cruising down the highway, your limp home mode did activate. You'll notice difficulty/resistance in the foot pedal when accelerating, then a sudden rev. Even if you go to reset the codes on your dash, you still have to manually reset the carb/throttle body linkage.
2. I read past posts and got a little confused till I looked at it in person. The only other thing I will add is that when the post says push the spring towards the throttle body, it means push it towards the right side of the car, not circular around the throttle. This action releases it from the plastic detent on the carb as you will see once you push it and rotate the toothed cam counter-clockwise. And as said before, rotate it all the way around and then let go and try the throttle. That black toothed cam shouldn't move with the rest of the throttle.
3. The cause of what tells the computer to pop the limp-home mode could be anything in that are of the engine. I noticed on mine, it could've certainly used a good soaking of cleaner then a healthy dose of lubricant on all the linkage. And that's before I even get into the throttle body innards. It's probably oily and dirty, but I haven't opened it up yet. Maybe tomorrow if it warms up. Anyway, at least try soaking and lubricating the linkage, I pretty sure mine had some binding that didn't help anything. One other thing you may want to look at is the PCV valve. My was oiled up and did work properly and the hoses were cracked. Heard hissing. New PCV and some hoses and voila!! Thanks!!!
