9-5 vs 9-3

I'm currently driving a 2001 9-3 5 speed, and due to a job change I went from driving 28 miles a day to 80 miles a day, some bumper to bumper traffic and highway/interstate.
The 5-speed is starting to wear on me when I'm stuck in traffic and I could use some more driver's cabin room as I'm getting a bit cramped with leg room (I'm 6'2"). Also could use a vehicle that was a little bit smoother on the highway (longer wheelbase). I really hate to get rid of the 9-3, but changes in my life warrant a switch to a larger car.
I'm looking for comments from people who switched from a 9-3 to a 9-5. I'm thinking of a 2007 9-5 with auto trans, and also looking at an 2007 Audi A-4 quattro 2.0 L with auto trans. When I look at the specifications I was surprised that the A-4 wasn't that much smaller in interior room/legroom than the 9-5. I've had my wife's 2004 TL for a few days for the commute and it makes it so much less tiring of a commute.
Thanks!
