TB or huge vacum leak Posted by bobc [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 2000 9-5 V6... Throttle Body or CPS??(long-story-short), Tripwire_95SE, Thu, 22 Mar 2007 09:49:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
it sounds like a huge vacuum leak. same thing (exactly) happened to me last weekend. I cleaned the TB and popped the intake on ... but forgot to tighten the clamp. My daughter took the car and got "stranded", with the exact same symptoms, 3 houses down the road.
I would look, and listen for a vacuum leak, a big one most likely. wiggle stuff around, see if anything broke loose.
that said, your TB could very well be very bad off causing all this. and because of it, the computer has probably dropped you into limp home mode.
limp home mode is both mechanical (the solenoid trips making a direct attachment of the throttle cable to the throttle plate), and the computer does its limp home thing (no idle control, no cruise, no TCS etc)
so you get a crappy idle (might stall at lights), crappy throttle response, no cruise control. but it will start and run .. so you can limp home.
and yes, you need a rebuilt ABS module for the other symptoms.
