My fiancee drives our '02 Aero Wagon Auto. We've had the car for almost 2 years now. For the first few months, she didn't know about the 'S' button. She thought the car drove well, but commented that "it didn't feel like a Saab anymore". She was used to driving our other car, an '89 SPG. I told her about the Sport mode and told her to try the 'S' button. The next day she tried the 'S' button and reported back that it felt like a Real Saab now. She is was much happier knowing that the 'S' button is there when she wants/needs it.
Yes, the 'S' button changes the feel of the car significantly. If you test drive and Aero, and don't try it, you don't really feel the Aero of the 9-5.
Just my 2 cents.
