I strongly advise against you bringing this car to PepBoys. You really need to find a good indie SAAB mechanic in your area. There simply are too many quirks with these vehicles and the guys at PepBoys won't be able to offer you any advice.

You probably need to change your accessory belt, as well as the belt pulleys. The pulleys were originally listed as a 100K mile change, but folks here know to change them at the 60K, as they'll likely freeze up and leave you stranded before 100K miles.

Definitely read the posts regarding the PCV System. Most likely you need to update your vehicle to the latest (6th) version. That update will help ensure your vehicle doesn't become a sludge victim.

You should also be doing simple things like change out the braking fluid (that prevents corrosion and future problems with your ABS system), as well as your power steering fluid.

I'm sorry to say if you wanted a vehicle to drive which can get by putting only gas and oil into it for tens of thousands of miles, you should have gotten a Honda. These vehicles are quirky. I won't say their unreliable, as I've found as long as you maintain it, you'll have many years of happy driving.

Spend a couple weeks reading the news posts that come in each day, and you'll get a good idea of things to watch out for.
