I have a Magellan Roadmate 300 and it works very well. It picks up satellite signals pretty quickly when your stopped. There are probably others out there that are faster but this one is fine. I got mine around Christmas time at Radio Shack for $250. It came with the United States and Canada Map card, although the newer model, the Roadmate 360, has everything built in. We just used it yesterday on a 6 hour business trip from the Hartford area of CT to Ithaca, NY (Cornell). We had no idea where we were going and relied solely on its directions and we got there flawlessly. It comes with a great suction cup windshield mount that I was skeptical of but it doesn't impede as much of your vision as you think it might.
