I believe I got an explanation before that the rear inner parking brake drum on a disc brake rotor design has been around a long time. Nonetheless, I'd be more than happy to see the return of the 900 mechanical cable and cam actuated disc brake as a fine parking brake set-up. (Maybe not on the front wheels this time..) Anyway, I replaced my
9-5 rear parking shoes which really didn't have much wear, and they seem even less solid and sloppier than before. I hear the principle in drum brake design is that the more the wheel tries to rotate, the tighter the shoes push against this. Seems there is less precision in the 9-5 parking brake adaptation of this and there is more play in the shoe pivots making them move around a bit more. In any event, the old parking brake design seems simpler and more solid to me. Any agreement?
Thanx,
Kirk D.
