Why I am thinking CPS is possible cause

As I mentioned before I had this same cold start problem with my previous 2002 9-5. The cold starting issue was persistant unitl one time when the car would not turn over at all when it was warm, although it did start up when I tried agian a few minutes later. The CPS was diagnosed as problem with the No start and it was replaced. After it was replaced the cold start prblem also disappeared. Coincidence? Maybe. It is my understanding that the CPS tells the ECU what the iginition firing is since it indicates which piston is in teh compression stroke. If it was giving a faulty reading, ratter then no reading at all, from a cold start the igintion timing might be off and the engine would stumble, just as it seesm to on the inital cold start. This is why I am thinking a faulty CPS could somehow be related to the cold start problem. Why it seems to correct after a few attempts is still not clear to me or also why it works when warm. I am going to try to get my SAAB mech/dealer to replace it under warranty and see if it cures the cold start problem. I will also get him to look at coolant temp issue as suggested by other post. Wish me luck! I will report back on outcome of my efforts.
