People keep saying CPS when talking about the CKP sensor. The DI cassette when meaning the IDM and so forth.
It's difficult especially since different car makers cannot agree on a standard language even though the OBD2 standard did come out with a common language and that one and the same part is changing names through the years.
The fuel/ignition computer is on most domestic cars the PCM and some say ECU or ECM and BMW calls it DME. But now with the CAN equipped cars, it have slowly turned to call all different mini computers throughout the car for modules or nodes.
It's a djungle out there
