I didn't have problems with fuel pump (yet! <sic>), but I am having exactly the same issues with the cabin fan. I took it out today (hmm, broke one of the clips from the black cover under the windshield, also needed to take the whole wiper assembly out including one of the mounts!) and checked it. The brushes on the motor were almost gone! I polished them out with dremel, cleaned both the brushes and commutator with alcohol and put all back together. So far, cold or hot, it starts fine. Unfortunately, I cracked the fan while taking it out, so now it makes a terrible rattling noise when it gets to high speed (at least I hope it's because of the crack and not something else). I'm not worried about it though cause I already ordered a new one from eeuroparts.com. I hope that this was the issue. Since it worked on and off sporadically, and I don't have any kind of voltmeter, I couldn't determine whether it was a fan or controller problem. But both my indy and this forum seemed to agree that it was the fan.

If they could only make spare brushes for it so I could solder them in instead of buying a new fan for almost $300... At least before I cracked it...
