Was there a strip on maksing tape on the fuel filter? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Working my way through my list, PhilD, Sun, 3 Jun 2007 07:55:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
When I replaced my fuel filter D-I-Y as part of the 60,000 mile major interval service, I noticed the anchoring band was held to the canister by a piece of masking tape. This is an assembly line trick to keep the band (which would slide freely on a new filter when it was also new) in the optimum spot on the filter cannister for rapid connection of the fuel lines.
It was this piece of tape that proved my filter had not been changed by the Dealer at any previous srvice.
