When I take off from a start I'll get a pop or a clunk, started with a single clunk and now it's 3 or four clunks at take off. I've been to the shop a couple of times and they don't believe it's the motor mounts, the struts mounts look good, nothing seems loose underneath,... it almost seems internal, like maybe the transmission, but it's a deceiving noise.
It's certainly coming from the front. Maybe the left front, but again it's hard to tell. It doesn't seem to do it until you pull away and then it won't happen until I stop and start again or if I slow down quite a bit and give it gas, I can hear it pop a couple times again. It is get more pronounced in the last couple days.
A mechanic suggested putting transmission conditioner in the transmission and seeing if there is any change and that might narrow down the search for the problem.
this car has 40k on an 'o2 with a new motor, intercooler and turbo replaced at 35k with the sludge warranty before I bought it. I suspect it sat around the dealership w/o a motor for awhile, leaving the transmission exposed, but the fluid is clean and I had it changed just a little while ago for good measure (!).
So,...any guesses or better yet, experiences with this weird kind of sound are most welcome.
Help Please!
