First: If you check the coolant level weekly AND you are not experiencing coolant loss...I would keep checking weekly. If you have to add an ounce every 3 months...keep checking; if you have to add a quart every week proceed to "Second" below.
Second: If you are experiencing coolant loss...there are two questions...1. how much?, and 2. from where?
Often, the basis for a waterpump replacement is a puddle 4" - 6" from the inside of the right (passenger side) front wheel. A puddle diameter of 6" or more is a loud hint.
