I cleaned my coolant drain pan before and after the job, and reused the oil. Only cost was the detergent and water to scrub and rinse the pan.
The new washer I installed Sunday was kinked at one spot on the perimeter, and gouged at one spot on the sealing face - not all the way across the face, but almost.
These two defects kept it from sealing properly and allowed oil to seep out when engine was warm.
I carefully inspected the washer I installed tonight before it went on the drain plug!
