Suspicious indeed...
According to the Rich Miller internal memo to Saab dealer service managers, here are the questions the Swedes'are requesting:
. Have complaints increased, decreased, or sayed the same over the last 5 years?
. What specific models/model years are most affected?
. In your geographic area, are there pockets that seem better/worse than others?
. Do we get the same vehicles year after year, or do some vehicles go away over time?
. Any type/grade of fuel seem to be better/worse than others?
. What ambient temperature range seem to bring out the complaints?
Quoting from the memo: "They're also asking for lists of complaints for the last 5 years by model, mileage, and location but obviously this is not something that can be easily gathered. Perhaps if your dealers could provide sample complaints/RO's would suffice."
The service manager at my Saab dealer seemed overwhelmed (and a little cranky) in dealing with this issue. He said he is dealing with "hundreds and hundreds" of these complaints--and we're talking about a rather small dealership in Southern New Hampshire. His customers are not happy when he tells them there's nothing he can do until Saab recognizes and addresses the issue.
So how about it....any Saab Engineers out there working on this problem???
