Timing Chain cover

Hello, a while back I posted a thread about my oil pump going on my 2000 9-5 2.3L sedan. It looks like now I need to change the oil pump gears, pump cover, gaskets, etc, but now I believe the pump housing, which is part of the front timing chain cover, is scored up enough that I should replace that too now.
My question is can this be done with the engine in the car? If so, any special tools or procedures, other than taking off the serpantine belt and all the accessories to allow access to the cover's fasteners? Also, if the cover does come off anyway, should the chain and/or guides be replaced too, or just measured/inspected and if still good leave it alone.
If the engine has to come out (or if it would just be exponentially easier to change the cover with it out), is it a huge deal to pull the engine?
Any info would be appreciated. Right now, as the car sits in my garage, I have the oil pan off, the valve cover off, the oil pump cover and what was left of my oil pump gears out, and the upper engine mount on the passenger side off.
Thanks!
Dave
