My dealer said the same thing at 40,000 mi on my '02 Aero when I took it in for some warranty work at my Bay Area dealer in California. But I've had experience with previous Saabs (I replaced the belt myself on my '99 9-3 at the recommended 60,000 miles and it looked absolutely great). So I took it home and spent some time closely inspecting the belt. Not one crack inside or out - it looked new. My response was to stop using that dealership. I've since heard from others (notably Swedecar) that those belts are pretty durable.
