My ' 99 95 v-6t Saab is wearing me out…

About 6 weeks ago it went from intermittent rough running, with a occasional rough idle to full time rough! After quick clean of the TB, replacement of the DIC's/sparkplugs and a reset of the error codes, it ran pretty good for a couple of weeks.

Then hints of roughness started to return, especially with the AC on, started throwing P0455 CEL codes (EVAP Large leak). Found vacuum leak in one of the lines running from the manifold into the TB, fixed that. Ran ok for a few days. Then more P0455's, checked everything I could (except the purge valve) finally got smart and replaced the gas cap. Eliminated that hint of roughness. No more P0455's for a couple of weeks, ran good again.

Finally felt like I could let the wife drive it, ran great to work, after work, it started and stalled after about 5 secs, started and stalled again after 10 secs, then started and ran, but turned on the CEL and the "TCS Off" light, this time giving me a P1251.

Reset it, ran good for a day, then the CEL came on again during a deceleration down a long hill, P1251 again. After a frustrating conversation with my local dealer trying to track down a TSB #, that I found on the internet that seemed to fit and then his refusal to even give me a hint on the cause of a P1251 without bringing it in. I reset it again.

For the heck of it, had the battery checked, it was 100% (only 1.5yr old) and the charging system, also 100%.

Next day, drove 20 miles, mainly highway, up to 75mph, felt great, used cruise. After setting for about 4hrs, jumped in it again and within 5 mins, CEL light back on. This time it's a P1260 (something to do with fuel air metering) AND that old P0455. Again it seems to be running fine with two exceptions… Idle speed now sometimes wants to stay at about 1300-1500rpm, before slowly coming back to normal and transmission shifts that seem just a touch harsh.

Tonight I plan to try to clean the EVAP Purge Valve to hopefully clear up the P0455 and do a better job of cleaning the TB, maybe eliminating the P1260, but I am getting tired of chasing these problems.

So I ask for the wisdom of the Saab Net…should I just go ahead and replace the TB? Replace the Purge Valve? Anything else to check or try before I start replacing parts?
