Getting it fixed.... Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] (#114) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Herb Hirsch) on Fri, 21 Sep 2007 13:04:34 In Reply to: Starting problem!, GMcGrath, Thu, 20 Sep 2007 16:58:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Now that you've diagnosed the cause of the starting problem you have a few options.
1. Get the dealer to fix the problem he created. If you don't get a good feeling that he's going to take care of it in a responsible manner move on to option 2 or 3.
2. DIY: Remove the starter and confirm what you need and then go to a juk yard and buy a really beat up starter for dirt, salvage the necessary part and fix your starter. Alternatively, take the removed starter to a starter/alternator shop and have them fix it. This should not be an expensive job.
3. DIY: Get a new Bosch starter from eEuroparts ($184 with core) and install yourself. Since the dealer is refusing to fix te problem he has created you'll have to take him to court; Odds appear to be in your favor.
4. INDY: Go to an INDY and have him fix it.
5. Wine and cry: This works best if you sit on your a** and do nothing.
