Help!...out of ideas.
I have a 2002 9-5 4cyl turbo. I have a problem that occurs alomst every morning at cold start. The problem is significantly worse on very damp or rainy mornings. It will occasionally take place after the car has sat for a long period during the day, such as after work, but not usually. It mainly takes place in the morning.
The car when started will run very rough at first start, occasionally shutting off. Once it has ran for a 10-15 seconds it will run fine...seems to idle rought the slightest bit but runs fine. When really getting on the gas such as flooring it, the car will not run completely smooth but slighty pulsate as it is accelarating.
About every other week of this morning start problem the check engine light will come on.
I have not had good experiences at the dealerships where I from so I sent my car to local repair shop with a gentleman who said he is well qualified and experienced with Saabs.
He has worked on my car four or five different times over a month and a half, and he is out of ideas basically. The check engine gave him some hints at first. Reading the replacement of the mass air flow meter and then the next time problem occured giving the same read out so he reset the adaptives for the mass air flow meter. After going back time and time again for his help we have replaced, the mass air flow meter with resetting the adaptives, replaced the fuel filter, done the de-carb service, replaced the spark plugs, and replaced the direct ignition cassette. At the beginning of al this I had to replace the tension pully and the alternator. The car when ran for 15-20 minutes still gives off the sulfuric smell which I understand to be a symtom of misfiring.
I am still having the cold start problem. Usually when this gentleman performed the work the problem seemed to disappear for about a day.
He says that he is out of ideas and that he thinks we made need a software update. I don't even know if this exist.
Someone please hlpe because I have already spent $1600 and I do not know what to do next. Like I said before, the dealerships have gained my trust so I am trying to avoid their ridiculous prices for poor service.(I am pseaking about the ones in my locale only)
