It is two schools out there and they will never agree.

Some shops refuse to machine rotors and either just install new pads on the concave worn rotors or install new rotors.

Others machine rotors if they are thick enough and install new pads and then replace the rotors next time if they can't be machined again.

I am of the later group which has no problems at all to machine rotors if it is material enough to do so.

I have no more problems with machined rotors than I have with new ones.
Some gets warped again and some don't, just like new rotors do.

With the new Akebono pads from Saab, the rotor wear is minimal and they will probably last several sets of pads.
