You should have looked into the Saab forums BEFORE you had trouble with your car, not AFTER. I do deeply sympathize with your case as I also have a V6. We all here now that Saabs are... well, special, and require more attention and knowledge than other vehicles, but they will pay you back for it. I actively take part in 2 saab forums, and the first thing I learned was to replace the tensioner along with the timing belt. If you knew that before (by reading any Saab forum online), you wouldn't be in this situation now. Lucky me I also found a very helpful and knowledgeable Saab indy that told me right away that I need a new tensioner if timing belt was changed by the dealer. He also told me that I should replace my fuel pump at ~120k cause they tend to fail at that point (btw, tip for you in case you decide to keep the car).
My advice - do as knowledgeable people on this forum suggest. They've been owning and fixing Saabs for a very long time. Read the posts, ask questions, and perhaps you will manage to happily drive your Saab for another 8 years as you planned. Mind you, Herb Hirsh drove his 9-5 till 275k miles, but he did that by being on top of every maintenance item possible. Learn from the best, and you can't go wrong!
Good luck!
