The cam belt failure would cause the valves to crash into the piston crowns but has it been confirmed it did more than bend some valves or did it damage the pistons too? There are many sources for rebuilt heads and I've even seen cylinder heads offered on Ebay. I think Catera heads will also fit but a mechanic would have to confirm that. There are also complete engines available as mentioned already. If the car is still in nice condition, I'd consider fixing it. BTW, I just had the belt replaced on my V6 for the 60K miles service and the bearings in the tensioner rollers were sure noisy as the mechanic gave me the old tensioner. He said they could have gone another 40K miles or failed tomorrow - he said they can be noisy and be OK but they eventually seize and then it's over. Good luck on your decision.
